FTDI
Utilities News - FT_INF released, FT_PROG updated
FT_INF is a free application allowing users to create custom inf
files that can be used in conjunction with FTDI’s proprietary drivers.
Altering inf files gives users the flexibility to install FTDI devices
that do not use FTDI’s default Vendor ID / Product ID as well as fine
tune some of the more advanced driver settings.
FT_PROG
has now been updated to version 1.3.1

CDM
Uninstaller utility released
CDM Uninstaller is a free application that can selectively remove
Windows device drivers from the user’s system as specified by the device
Vendor ID and Product ID.

powered Hi-Speed 2.0 USB to single/dual-port RS232, RS422 or RS485
modules
Future Technology Devices International (FTDI) announces its
USB-COM-PLUS family of multi-port serial to USB 2.0 Hi-Speed
Interface Modules. The
USB-COM-PLUS
modules are a simple method of adapting legacy serial devices with RS232
(EIA-232), RS422 (EIA-422) or RS485 (EIA-485) interfaces to a USB host.
The complete USB protocol and all level shifting is handled by the
modules. Royalty-free drivers are available for all popular operating
system platforms for an easy plug and play installation.

FTDI announces a new FT_PROG utility
FT_PROG
provides a user interface to access any EEPROM used with FTDI devices,
replacing the previous utility for this purpose, MPROG.
FT_PROG adds new functionality such as the capability to program
Vinculum VNC1L devices, and a command line interface.

USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface ICs and evaluation modules are now available
in FTDI’s web shop.
FTDI’s latest USB 2.0 Hi-Speed ICs
FT2232H
(dual USB to multipurpose UART/ FIFO IC) and
FT4232H
(quad USB to multipurpose UART/ MPSSE IC) are now available in our
web shop.
Both Hi-Speed ICs provide a flexible interface configuration by
using Multi-Protocol Synchronous Serial Engines
(MPSSE), to configure
I2C, SPI, JTAG or other clocked serial interfaces. Capable of speeds up
30Mbits/s, the entire USB protocol is handled on the IC.
The FT2232H and FT4232H ICs are supported by the USB 2.0 evaluation
modules
FT2232H and FT4232H Hi-Speed Mini-Modules which enables an easy
migration of Hi-Speed USB to your target design.
Free support and drivers are offered for most industry standard
operating systems such as Windows, Linux and MAC OSX.
Also now in stock is the new
DLP-USB1232H Hi-Speed single channel adapter module.. It is DLP
Design’s premier USB-to-UART/FIFO interface module based on FTDI’s new
FT2232H USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480Mb/s) silicon. The DLP-USB1232H is
available in a lead-free, RoHS-compliant, compact 18-pin, 0.1-inch
spaced standard DIP footprint.

New Distribution Agreement – Glyn and Electrocomp
FTDI are pleased to announce new
distribution agreements with Glyn GmbH & Co.KG and Electrocomp (PTY)
Ltd.
Glyn
have expanded their existing FTDI sales regions to include the following
European countries: (Germany, Austria, Benelux,
Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Norway,
Poland, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland).
Electrocomp will join MB Silicon as official distributor of FTDI

FT2232H/ FT4232H USB 2.0 High Speed interface ICs and evaluation modules
FT2232H - Dual USB to multipurpose UART/ FIFO IC (4k buffers).
FT4232H - Quad USB to multipurpose UART/ MPSSE IC (2k buffers).
Flexible interface configurations using Multi-Protocol Synchronous
Serial Engines
(MPSSE), USB to I2C, SPI, JTAG or other clocked serial interfaces.
Speeds up to 30Mbits/s, entire USB protocol on IC integrated LDO
regulator and PLL, extended temperature (-40ºC to +85º).
The
FT2232H Hi-Speed Mini-Module and the
FT4232H Mini-Module use these new ICs. Each module has one Hi-Speed
IC with a USB mini connector and two 26 way (2 rows 0.1” pitch) male
header pins to allow access to all pins of the devices. They are ideal
for development proposes to quickly prove the concept of adding Hi-Speed
USB to a target design.
Free driver support is offered for most industry standard operating
systems such as Windows, Linux and MAC OSX.

Microsoft WHQL Certified Driver
Released
FTDI are pleased to announce the availability of a
Microsoft WHQL certified driver to
support the new
FT2232H
and
FT4232H hi-speed devices. The driver is
compatible with all current versions of Windows (2000, XP, Server 2003,
Vista, Server 2008), for both 32-bit and 64-bit
operating systems and supports the full range of FTDI ICs (FT2232H,
FT4232H, FT232R, FT245R, FT2232, FT232BM, FT245BM, FT8U232AM,
FT8U245AM).
